Open G String Bar Chord Minus the Bar.

Open G String Bar Chord Minus the Bar.

I wanted to share a creative, easy way, to create new, cool, interesting sounding chords.

We’re using A shape bar chords for this.
play through the key of C, up the guitar neck with A shape bar chords.

Here’s all 7 chords in the key of C played with A shape bar chords:

A shape Bar chords in C

If you don’t know these chords: memorize them.

And then you’re ready for the next step.
Lift up your bar, and take off your finger you have on the G string.
The new chord fingerings now look like this:

Bar Open G string chords

So you turned A shape bar chords, into chords that have an open G string.
That open G string in the middle of the chords creates cool, lush voicings.
The new chords sound so cool, this will trigger song ideas and will inspire you to come up with songs and melodies.

The below video will help in understanding all the above.
I showcase and explain all the above in great detail, and give tips on how to play this all.

Conclusion

It’s always fun to use things you might already know, in different creative ways.
In this case: you are using your bar chord knowledge, to create new voicings merely by adding an open string to the chord.

Have fun with these new chord sounds you added to your musical knowledge. 🙂

These free lessons are cool, but you will never experience the progress, joy, and results that my students experience in lessons when you’re learning by yourself from blogs and videos.

That is why people take lessons: way better results and progress, much more complete information, exposed to way more creative ideas than you can get from a blog or YouTube video.
There is only so much that self-study can accomplish.

If you want to see amazing results and progress in your guitar playing, buy your first lesson here and get started ASAP.
