Blues Cliches
I call this the blues clichés lesson.
You also call them “blues phrases” or “blues licks”.
All these things basically mean the same thing: phrases you hear all the time in blues (or any music style influenced by blues) guitar solos.
You will in other words: hear these phrases over and over again in the music of…
Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Who, every blues guy, every rockabilly guitarist, The Stray Cats, hardrock bands, Joe Satriani, to even Guthrie Govan,… just to name a few.
Not only that: you could actually even call these phrases “country cliches”
These same phrases are equally heavily used in country guitar solos.
I have a large collection of such phrases I teach in my lessons.
This falls under the category: learning vocabulary.
Here are 10 to get you started.
All of these are in the key of E (which is one of the most popular keys in those genres)
